A computer professional from Tamil Nadu, who allegedly blackmailed a woman after introducing himself as a godman, was arrested by the city police on Tuesday.

The accused Shoukath Hussain (25) of Vellore in Tamil Nadu , introduced himself as a godman possessing supernatural powers.

According to the police, the woman was in financial difficulty and had sought Shoukath’s intervention, who in turn gave her some articles promising they would end her problems.

Blackmails woman

“Shoukath came to the city and met the woman three to four times. He gave her some material and took money.

He then began blackmailing the woman threatening to inform her husband about their meetings and demanded money from her,” Inspector Cyber Crimes Ram Mohan Reddy said. Based on a complaint lodged by the woman, police nabbed Shoukath.
