Labourer killed in Telangana stone quarry blast

A labourer was killed on the spot and two others sustained injuries in an explosion at a stone quarry under Mallemadugu gram panchayat limits in Khammam rural mandal on Thursday morning.

According to sources, the deceased has been identified as Saraiah, 30, of Konijerla mandal.

Saraiah and two of his co-workers suffered grievous injuries when some explosive material meant for blasting the rocks inside the quarry exploded.

Saraiah died on the spot. The two injured workers were shifted to a hospital in Khammam, sources added.

The Khammam rural police have rushed to the spot to ascertain the cause of the explosion.
