Ex-MLA attacks party legislator, claims he was manhandled

December 13, 2014 12:58 am | Updated 12:58 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Former Congress MLA P. Vishnuvardhan Reddy on Friday allegedly attacked his party MLA from Kalvakurthy Ch. Vamshichand Reddy at the N-Convention Centre in Madhapur, and later charged that it was actually the latter who had attacked him.

Cases were registered against both politicians based on complaints lodged by the other. Mr. Vamshichand had gone to the centre to attend a wedding.

CCTV footage secured by police showed that Mr.Vishnuvardhan, who was already present at the venue near the pandal, attacked the MLA soon after both shook hands.

When Mr. Vamshichand’s gunman came to his rescue, a group of nearly 20 persons mobbed and showered blows on the latter.

“Though the ex-MLA charged that the MLA attacked him, CCTV footage doesn’t suggest so. Interestingly, both of them said they didn’t have any issue to fight,” the police said.

While IPC Sections 324 (causing hurt by dangerous means) and 506 (criminal intimidation) read with 34 were invoked against Mr. Vishnuvardhan, Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (causing hurt) and 290 (public nuisance) were registered against Mr. Vamshichand.
