An English lecturer from the city was stabbed to death by an unidentified person at his house in Ajdabiya of Libya on Friday midnight. His family resides at Gandhinagar near Ashoknagar.

After killing Muhammed Najimuddin (54), the accused escaped with cash and other articles from the house, said his brother-in-law Basher Ahmed on Saturday.

The local police in Ajdabiya later arrested the accused. The family members came to know about the incident when Najimuddin’s colleague called them in the early hours of Saturday.

According to Ahmed, Najimuddin had gone to Ajdabiya four-and-half years ago and was working as an English lecturer at University of Benghazi.

“We are co-ordinating with the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi to bring the body to Hyderabad within a couple of days,” he said.
