Set to join Nalanda University as Vice-Chancellor

Vice-Chancellor of English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) Sunaina Singh has demitted the office on completing the full term of five years and she will soon take over as Vice-Chancellor of Nalanda University.

Prof. Singh, who joined in May 2012, when the Telangana agitation was at its peak and also the university in a turmoil due to internal issues, has played a key role in streamlining the administration, reinvigorating the academic culture, and bringing about transparency and accountability into the system.

A statement from the university said that these crucial interventions had helped the university steer forward and assert itself as an important institution of higher learning.

Compelling leadership

The university has emerged out of a critical period largely because of her determined and compelling leadership, it said.

Prof. Singh also holds the position of Vice President of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). An acclaimed Professor of Comparative Literature and Culture and as a Visiting Professor at reputed universities abroad, she has played a crucial role in drawing the attention of the West towards Indian culture and literature, pedagogical systems and epistemological concerns.
