Wajood Society, a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) group, has expressed its dismay at the way the English and Foreign Languages University (Eflu) has dealt with Mudasir Kamran, the Kashmiri research scholar, who had committed suicide on the university campus on March 2.
The society, through a press release issued by its president Jayati Mathur, said the administration would not have dealt with Mudasir in such a “callous” manner had it not been for his ‘sexual’ orientation. Even after his death, the administration has owned up no responsibility, he said.
The society demanded immediate suspension of the Proctor, judicial inquiry into the suicide and compensation for Mudasir’s family. Meanwhile, students’ protests on the Eflu campus continued on Wednesday too.
