An eco-tourism project by Telangana Tourism Department is likely to come up at Ravirala village of Maheshwaram mandal in Ranga Reddy district.

Minister for Tourism A. Chandulal announced this at the launch of 'Wonderla', a private theme park at Ravirala, here on Wednesday. The project is on the anvil and being planned in 400 acres adjacent to Wonderla,” he stated.

Minister for Transport P. Mahender Reddy, who was also present, anticipated more such investments in the district, thereby considerably increasing employment opportunities for the youth. Referring to recent launch of Micromax mobile phone production facility, he said companies across India were looking to Telangana for investments.

'Wonderla', the third theme park from Wonderla Holidays in the country and the first in the State, is built in 50 acres of land with an investment of Rs. 250 crore. It has 43 attractions, which include 25 land based and 18 water based rides. A reverse looping roller coaster imported from Netherlands, and space themed flying theatre that is yet to be opened, would be the major attractions. Arun K. Chittilappilly, Managing Director of Wonderla Holidays, said the park is equipped with 1 Megawatt solar power unit and a water treatment plant. It was launched in record time of 15 months, and will provide employment to 1,000 persons upon completion. On the sidelines, he also revealed plans to launch a fourth park in Chennai at a cost of Rs. 300 crore, that would be their biggest theme based amusement park. The company is already operating two parks at Kochi and Bangalore.

Entry per ticket per person at Ravirala Park is priced at Rs. 990 on weekdays and Rs. 1,290, on weekends. For children, there is a discount.

MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy and MLC Narender Reddy too were present at the event.
