The Hyderabad traffic officials who intensified drunken driving checks during daytime found a number of young violators including 15 minors in the last couple of days. The Banjara Hills police on Tuesday presented scores of young violators of drunk driving in front of the media and counselled their parents to keep a tab on their wards. It was also informed that out of the 100 violators caught recently in the city for drunken driving, many were below 21, an illegal age for consumption of alcohol by law.

The officials announced new measures in the wake of the deaths of 10-year-old Ramya and her uncle which was caused by a youngster who was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

LS Chauhan, DCP, Traffic-1 said that they will continue the checks at any time of the day in the coming few days. He warned the managements of wine shops, restaurants and bars that they will also be made co-accused if it was found that they had supplied liquor to those under the age of 21 involved in accident.
