Within hours after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced his plans to raze down illegal structures built on water bodies, special demolition flying squads for all the 24 circles under GHMC limits have been formed. GHMC Commissioner, B. Janardhan Reddy issued orders to this effect on Saturday night.
The squad will headed by the Deputy Municipal Commissioner concerned, a Tahsildar representing the Revenue department, one Assistant Police Commissioner along with the Town Planning officials. A vehicle for taking up demolitions of the unauthorised constructions on nalas and lakes will also be provided.
The GHMC Commissioner said that the Supreme Court, High Court and National Green Tribunal had given specific orders for the demolition of the unauthorised constructions and as per the Kirloskar report, around 28,000 structures built on nalas. The Commissioner appealed to the citizens to join hands with the GHMC and also to give information about the unauthorized constructions built on nalas and lakes. The informants identity will be kept confidential.
