Holding those in power responsible for the face-off between the Adivasis and Lambadas in the erstwhile Adilabad district, All India BC Welfare Association president and LB Nagar MLA R. Krishnaiah said classification of Scheduled Tribes would resolve the issue.
Speaking to a large audience at the BC Garjana meeting in the town on Wednesday he opined the unrest was a ploy by those in power and urged members from the Scheduled Tribes to stay united, and find solutions amicably.
Giving a call to those from backward classes to brace up for the movement starting in January, he said it was time for consolidation of all groups under the BCs, and to draw an action plan. “All our actions should be aimed at achieving a political space,” he told them. However, there was no immediate plan to launch a party, he clarified.
Observing that the BCs presence in business and commerce avenues was low, Mr. Krishnaiah said there was a need for an agitation for reservations in government, as well as private sectors. The BC leader said the meeting of the Chief Minister with leaders from backward classes, to discuss and work towards a solution was a good sign in the movement.
