Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has said that he will lay the foundation stones for the Palamuru and Nakkalagandi lift-irrigation schemes as soon as the budget session of Telangana Assembly is over.

Parched throats in Mahabubnagar and flourosis problem in villages of Nalgonda districts will soon be a thing of the past under the projects, Mr. Rao said at the official Ugadi celebration of the State government.

He recalled how the people of Telangana had reeled under acute shortage of power around this time last year in the combined State.

“I can assure you that things will certainly improve very soon and the day is not far when the youngest State will be power-surplus,” he said, adding that the government’s focus was on ‘welfare, agriculture and industrial development’.

Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Assembly Speaker S. Madhusudana Chary, Council chairman K. Swamy Goud, Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Ministers Eatala Rajender, Naini Narsimha Reddy, Indrakaran Reddy, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, T. Padma Rao, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and K. Lakshma Reddy were present.
