Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Cyberabad Commissioner C. V. Anand said that preparations are under way to ensure peaceful conduct of elections including gram panchayat, MPTC, ZPTC and general elections being held consecutively in Cyberabad.

About 8,478 civil police and 274 central armed police forces will be deployed. Special teams like Static Surveillance Teams (SST) and flying squads were formed to check violations apart from setting up border check posts at 12 places, he said.

Of the total 4,372 polling stations 274 have been declared sensitive and 56 hyper sensitive. Combing operations are being taken up in Manchal, Ibrahimpatnam, Kandukur and Yacharam police station limits where 32 polling stations have been declared extremist affected in the past.

Mr. Anand warned of strict action against those violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). Already 42 cases were registered against representatives of various political parties for violation of MCC. “We will raid any place where we have information of cash or gifts kept for distribution amongst voters,” he said.

Those carrying huge amounts of cash should carry support documents to avoid inconvenience. “Our intention is not to harass but people should also cooperate with us,” he said.
