Cyber security, data analytics and open data are the three sectors for which Telangana Government will come with a policy each in September, IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan said here on Friday.
Four sectoral policies were released along with the IT policy in April and three more will come in September, he told presspersons on the sidelines of a seminar on e-commerce organised by trade and industry body, the Federation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTAPCCI).
Creating a legal framework for data exchange and putting in place emergency response team are some of the features of the policies, he replied to queries.
Earlier, he told the seminar that the government, in the backdrop of e-commerce gaining popularity, wants on putting in place systems to address the adverse impact, including financial frauds. “We will be vigilant about these matters,” he said.
In its ICT policy framework, the State had spoken of providing incentives for investment in the area of cyber security with a “vision to build a secure and resilient cyberspace for citizens, business and government.
Robust legal framework
Promoting training in cyber security as well as developing a robust legal framework that assists information exchange and data privacy for institutions collaborating in this area are its focus.
In the area of data analytics, the government is planning a park for the companies too.
The sectoral policies that Telangana has unveiled so far relate to innovation, gaming and animation, rural tech centres and electronics manufacturing.
Urging the small and medium-sized enterprises to get onto the e-commerce space, Mr. Ranjan said Telangana’s industry- friendly policies was attracting several leading players in the field to set up facilities in the State.
Amazon, he added, would be opening its second fulfilment centre, at the GMR Aerocity, in a month.
The upcoming facility would be bigger than the existing fulfilment in Hyderabad.
One of the attractions of coming to Telangana was the favourable taxation policy the State had in place.
FTAPCCI president Ravindra Modi said the e-commerce sector in the country had posted 34 per cent (CAGR) growth since 2009 and touched $ 16.4 billion in 2014.
This is expected to increase to $22 billion this year.
Policies on data analytics and open data are also to be launched, says
