Police station compounds in Cyberabad will look spick and span soon. Thanks to the Crime Vehicle Deposit Centres concept launched by the police, police stations will no longer resemble a dump yard of abandoned vehicles involved in cases.
For the first time in the State, the Cyberabad police introduced ‘Crime Vehicle Deposit Centres’ where vehicles seized by the police in various cases will be kept. On Wednesday, one such centre was inaugurated by Cyberabad Commissioner C.V. Anand at a six-acre land parcel adjacent to the Pahadishareef police station.
“The vehicles seized in various cases eat away a lot of space at the police stations. Ironically, we cannot do anything as the vehicles are to be kept till the case is completed. In order to solve the space problem and give a modernised look, we are shifting the vehicles to Crime Vehicle Deposit Centres where they will be kept in an organised way,” Cyberabad Commissioner C.V. Anand said.
The police plan to introduce the centres in all the five zones in the Cyberabad commissionerate jurisdiction. “Already, we have identified land in L.B. Nagar and Malkajgiri zones. In others two zones, Madhapur and Balanagar, it is under process,” the official added. Mr. Anand explained that the concept will benefit people, and all the vehicles seized will be parked in an organised manner to help trace the stolen vehicles. “At the same time, it will also help the police promptly present the vehicles before courts whenever there is a need to expedite the cases,” he said.
Around 1,500 two-wheelers, auto rickshaws and four-wheelers were kept at the newly inaugurated Crime Vehicle Deposit Centre at Pahadishareef police station.
