The Special Operation Team of Cyberabad police busted a cricket betting racket and arrested four persons. Police seized ₹ 15.28 lakh, a communicator, laptops and other materials from their possession on Friday night.
The accused Gontu Ravi Kiran (33), Kasani Koti Reddy (30), Gunnu Appanna (42) and M. Ajay Reddy were arrested from a house at Pragathi Nagar in Bachupally by the SOT of Shamshabad and Madhapur.
Madhapur DCP Vishwa Prasad said that the accused were betting on the ongoing India and South Africa cricket test match at Newlands, Cape Town. He said the main accused Kiran was organising cricket bets for the past many years and following a tip-off the police raided his house and arrested them.
“Another organiser Venki Babu, a native of West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, is absconding and efforts are on to apprehend him,” the official said.
