Employees falling under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) went on mass casual leave on Friday throughout the State demanding that they be moved back to the old pension scheme.

The casual leave protest was called by the Telangana State Contributory Pension Scheme Employees Association and employees responded in all the districts, said G. Sthitaprajna, president of the association. He said a notice was served to the Chief Secretary on July 31 itself on the protest.

The protesting employees submitted memorandums to the District Collectors. Mr. Stithaprajna, who participated in the protests at Mahabubnagar, Ranga Reddy and Medhcal districts said that retired employees under CPS were getting pension as low as Rs. 1,000 due to the volatile share market. Moreover, 262 people have died after retirement unable to get pension.
