CPI(M) State Secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram congratulated Telangana JAC chairperson M. Kodandram on his pro-people stand and criticism of the Telangana government, and wished for unity among all the democratic voices rising against the government’s attitude.

“So far, the opposition parties, JACs and other organisations have individually questioned the government. We desire unity among them, and will consult Prof. Kodandram and others towards forging it,” he said, addressing a press conference after the end of the two-day State committee meetings on Wednesday. Condemning the ruling party’s tirade against Prof. Kodandram, he said it only showed their arrogance.

The State committee had resolved to devise an ‘alternative policy’ for Telangana State’s development, after consultation with intellectuals and experts, which would then be taken to people.

It was also resolved to spread awareness on the provisions of the Land Acquisition legislation, as over five lakh acres were set to be acquired for various projects in the State. Ridiculing the Chief Minister’s statement that the demands for jobs and fund allocations had been fulfilled, Mr. Veerabhadram said the TRS government had defaulted on promises made to SC, ST, BC, MBC and minority communities. Citing examples of three acres of land to SCs/STs, 12 per cent reservations to minorities, and double bedroom houses, he wondered to whom the State had become ‘Bangaru Telangana’.
