CPI to launch agitation against Govt’s ‘failure’

The Communist Party of India Telangana State unit has decided to launch a sustained agitation to mount pressure on the Government to fulfil the promises made by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the run up to the previous elections.

The party will hold dharnas in front of all mandal headquarters across the State from March 20 to 25 to highlight the failure of the Government in fulfilling its promises like three-care land to each dalit family and one lakh jobs to unemployed youth.

This would be followed by laying siege to the district collectorates on March 27, party Telangana secretary Chada Venkat Reddy said.

The party would conduct village-level study to understand the problems at the grassroots level subsequently and the issues discussed at district level seminars in April and May before taking up agitation at the village level.

Mr. Venkat Reddy, who briefed reporters about the resolutions adopted at the party’s State executive meeting on Saturday, ridiculed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s statement that he would not tolerate people who hoodwink people with false promises.

“Mr. Rao is on record on several occasions promising land to dalit families, jobs to unemployed youth and other incentives. None of them had been fulfilled so far,” he said.

The Chief Minister was encouraging defections from other parties and was “conveniently lying” when confronted with voices that raised questions about the Government’s failures. This was one of the reasons behind the Government’s “atrocious” decision to prevent political parties and people from staging protests at Indira Park, which earned repute as dharna chowk.
