A Ranga Reddy court has directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rajendranagar, to register a case against an Inspector and a Sub-Inspector of the Narsingi police station for allegedly abusing a woman.
The incident occurred when the woman had approached the police to lodge a complaint against an LIC agent for outraging her modesty.
The 25-year-old woman, along with her family, had gone to Narsingi police station to petition them against LIC agent Shankar Rao.
Abuse gets physical
But the Inspector and Sub-Inspector made her sit on her knees and hit her family members, abusing them on caste lines, she charged.
As the police officials failed to respond to her complaint, she filed a private petition in the court, stating that the duo had victimised her when she came to lodge a complaint.
The court asked the Rajendranagar ACP to book a case under relevant provisions of the IPC and the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Shankar Rao and the Narsingi police, and submit a report by September 19.
