Making a point about the Government’s impartiality, Municipal Administration Minister K.T. Rama Rao has directed officials to impose penalty on public representatives for displaying flexi-banners in violation of rules.

During his inauguration spree between Malakpet and Vanasthalipuram on Friday, Mr. Rama Rao found flexi banners put up by local corporator T. Sunaritha Reddy and ex-corporator Mohammed Aslam welcoming him to the new badminton court at Sripuram Colony, Malakpet.

When Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan brought it to his notice, Mr. Rama Rao asked GHMC officials to impose fine on the duo. Accordingly, officials issued spot notices to both for payment of ₹50,000 and ₹25,000 respectively, which were duly paid through cheques.

Later, the banners were removed under the supervision of Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan, who had brought it to the Minister’s notice.
