Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy congratulated Rahul Gandhi on taking charge as the president of All India Congress Committee on Saturday.

Uttam Kumar Reddy along with AICC Telangana in-charge secretary R.C. Khuntia, TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other leaders met Rahul Gandhi at AICC headquarters in New Delhi and conveyed his wishes. He expressed confidence that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, the party would make a comeback in the entire country. He assured that all leaders and workers of the party would work hard to bring the party to power in Telangana and also to make Rahul Gandhi the next Prime Minister. Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, MLC, said that the country needs the leadership of a young and dynamic leader like Rahul Gandhi to guide the country for the next generation. He also presented a ‘Shiva linga’ to him as Rahul declared that he was a Shiva Bhakt.

All the senior Congress leaders from Telangana were in Delhi for the programme to extend their wishes. Telangana Youth Congress president Anil Kumar Yadav organised a rally with Potharajus to showcase Telangana culture while former MPs Anjan Kumar Yadav and Sarve Satyanarayana danced along with the potharajus.

‘Dawn of a new era’

Nizamabad Special Correspondent adds: Party cadre across the erstwhile undivided district celebrated Rahul Gandhi assuming the AICC reins by bursting crackers, distributing sweets, cutting cakes and dancing to the drum beats.

They celebrated the occasion at their party offices here, in Kamareddy, Bodhan, Armoor and even in mandal headquarters. Besides the Congress cadres, leaders of its frontal organizations like Seva Dal, Youth Congress, Mahila Congress and NSUI participated in the celebrations. At a function held at the Congress Bhavan here DCC president Taher Bin Hamdan, City Congress president Kesa Venu and Mahila Congress district president Aruna Tara, P. Charan and Vipul Goud from YC and NSUI respectively spoke.

They felt that a new era dawned in the party with Rahul Gandhi taking over the AICC president post and it would get rejuvenated under the leadership of the young leader. The party workers would work with increased inspiration henceforth, they said.
