Tension prevailed at Sadasivpet, the mandal headquarters town and also the native place of Sangareddy legislator Chinta Prabahkar, when people in large numbers arrived at the Inspection Bungalow seeking to occupy the house sites allotted to them about three years ago. Police had a tough time controlling the agitators.

This was second such incident in two weeks in Sangareddy district.

Alleging that possession was not given to the beneficiaries who were allotted houses sites way back in 2012, former MLA T. Jayaprakash Reddy proposed occupation of house sites at Sadasivpet along with the beneficiaries. He alleged that the government failed to give possession of the land in spite of having a proper list of beneficiaries.

Mr. Jayaprakash Reddy took the police by surprise when he arrived at the inspection bungalow on a motor cycle along with his followers. A scuffle between the police and the beneficiaries ensued as the latter surged ahead.

The police led by Sangareddy DSP Tirupatanna and Zaheerabad DSP N. Ravi took the area under control and arrested Mr Reddy and 50 agitators and took them to police station at Kondapur.

They were later released. In a bid to continue the protest programme, Mr. Jayaprakash Reddy is planning to lay siege to the Collectorate on Tuesday.

Earlier in the past, District Congress Committee (DCC) president and former minister V. Sunitha Lakshma Reddy held similar protest at Narsapur constituency headquarters where the government proposed construction of double bed-room houses at the place where house sites were allotted.

“We will take it to logical conclusion by getting the sites possession to the genuine beneficiaries who were allotted by the government. It’s not the Congress party which allotted the sties but duly elected government,” said Mr. Jayaprakash Reddy.
