Congress condemns arrest of party leaders

Working president of the TPCC Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Thursday condemned the action of the police in arresting and thus preventing party leaders from conducting a peaceful protest in solidarity with farmers agitating against the Mallanasagar Project.

In a letter presented to DGP Anurag Sharma, the Congress leader said the TRS Government was adopting ‘most unconstitutional and coercive methods and manipulative pressure tactics to procure land for the project from poor farmers.

Mr. Vikramarka wanted arrangements to be made for TPCC leaders to go to Mallannasagar and interact with farmers. He also wanted an impartial inquiry to be ordered.

The delegation comprised former Deputy Chief Minister C.Damodar Raj Narasimha, former Minister V.Sunitha Laxma Reddy, and former MP Ponnam Prabhakar.
