Several Congress leaders including the TPCC Working President Bhatti Vikramarka, D. Sridhar Babu, K.K. Mahender Reddy among others visited the victims of the Nerella incident at the NIMS Hospital here on Wednesday.

The leaders spoke to the doctors to find out the treatment being given to them and their recovery status. They assured the injured persons of the party standing by them till they get justice.

Earlier, a rally was taken out from Babu Jagjivan Ram statue to Ambedkar statue on Tank Bund under the aegis of Telangana People’s Organisations JAC where leaders from various political parties participated and decried the attacks on Dalits.

It was attended by TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka, V. Hanumantha Rao, BJP MLA Chintala Ramchandra Reddy, JAC Chairman Gajjela Kantham among others.

Mr. Vikramarka alleged that the TRS Government has created a police state where the rights of all were being suppressed and attacks on Dalits had increased. Those questioning were being silenced with threats or torture, he alleged. Mr. Hanumantha Rao said he had not seen such brutal attacks on Dalits in his political career and the Government was silent despite the increasing frequency. Telangana is suffering from family rule, he said.

Mr. Ramchandra Reddy said that the promise of distributing three-acre land to each dalit family was not met and it was unfortunate that two dalit youths attempted suicide unable to secure land as promised by the Government. He said that the Government was not even allowing the MLAs to visit those admitted in the hospital.
