Hyderabad is gearing up to play host to the tenth edition of Urban Mobility India (UMI) conference-cum-exhibition, a three-day event, from November 4.

Over 1,500 delegates from various parts of the country and different organisations across the world are expected to participate in the annual event of the Union Ministry of Urban Development.

The theme of this year’s conference, which is being organised in partnership with the Telangana government, is Intelligent, Inclusive and Sustainable Mobility.

The conference is an established international forum to deliberate on important issues and challenges related to urban transportation.

It provides a platform to discuss ideas and thoughts for promoting best practices across India and in other parts of the world. The conference will help in capacity building of large number of State and city officials besides mayors and chairpersons of urban local bodies. It would also enhance business promotion opportunities for government and private sectors. Different facets of mobility and the latest technology options are to be showcased at the exhibition.

Hyderabad Metro Rail managing director and nodal officer of the State for the conference N.V.S.Reddy, TSTDC managing director Christina Zongthu and officials, including from TSRTC attended the meeting, an official release said.

Mr.Mittal instructed the Tourism Department to provide accommodation and facilitate travel and tour packages. He suggested the setting up of a travel desk at the conference venue to facilitate booking of tour packages. RTC officials have been asked to provide shuttle service to the delegates from the hotels to the venue. IT Department would provide free wi-fi at the venue, he said.
