The condition of one of the six persons, who sustained burns in the Volvo bus accident at Mahabubnagar, was said to be critical, while five others undergoing treatment at the Apollo Hospital DRDO, Kanchanbagh, were stable, according to hospital administrator Samiullah, on Thursday. The injured were brought to the hospital on Wednesday.

According to Dr. Samiullah, the condition of Yogesh Gowda, a golf coach, was critical while the five others were in various stages of recovery.

Oxygen through tube

According to doctors, Yogesh sustained 45 per cent burns and respiratory tract injuries, which means he had inhaled a lot of smoke that caused complications in the airway, potentially damaging the respiratory system. “Yogesh is being given oxygen through a breathing tube, known as Endotracheal Tube (ET) and is in critical condition,” Dr. Samiullah said.

The other patients -- Ayyaz Pasha, Srikar, Jai Singh, Rajesh and Mazhar Pasha had received 10 per cent, 22 per cent, six per cent, 15 per cent and 22 per cent burns respectively, the doctors said.
