‘Complex bus pass process can deter girl education’

March 31, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The bus pass process should be simplified to ensure that more girl students continue education, said Commissioner of Collegiate Education Shailaja Ramaiyer, who added that she would take up the matter with the government.

Speaking during the presentation of a study on girl education in the State, Ms. Ramaiyer said the government should consider issuing the passes in schools or using an institutional bonafide certificate as pass for students. She was responding to suggestions from civil society activists who said that girls may not attend school or college if there were procedural hassles to avail transport.
