‘Complete Yellampally work by December’

Asks officials to stay put in the field to supervise project

The State Government has reiterated its resolve to complete work launched on Yellampally and Mid Manair projects by December-end.

Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao has directed the officials concerned to ensure that water from Yellampally reaches Mid Manair project with the commencement of the new year.

The Minister, who reviewed the progress of work with senior officials on Sunday, recalled that the project would have positive impact on the people in the seven old districts of the State.

The officials concerned should accordingly stay put in the field to supervise the work on 6th,7th and 8th packages.

Setting the deadline for different works, he wanted the officials to complete pump house, tunnel and other constructions by November. Efforts should be intensified to complete surge pool work and conduct of dry run in December.

Work on tunnels, canal lining should be completed by October and the officials concerned should not miss the deadlines set for the project. Pace of work should also be stepped up in the construction of Medaram Reservoir and steps should be taken to pay compensation to farmers affected by the project at the earliest.

Irrigation Secretary Vikas Raj has been directed to clear the file pertaining to the crop holiday announced in the area. The meeting was attended by Irrigation Engineer-in-chief Muralidhar Rao, advisor on lift irrigation projects Penta Reddy, Kaleswara Chief Engineer N. Venkateswarlu and land acquisition advisor G. Manohar among others, according to an official release.
