Colleges told to post teachers in hostels

The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) has instructed all professional colleges to install CCTV cameras at the hostels attached to their colleges and also post at least two senior teachers in the hostels during night.

TSCHE Chairman T. Papi Reddy said the decision was taken in the light of suicide of a student of CMR Technical Campus allegedly due to ragging.

He said instructions were being sent to the university to direct the colleges to comply with the orders immediately. Prof. Reddy said most incidents of ragging happened in the hostels and they rarely were reported to the officials. “Posting faculty at the hostels will curb such tendencies.
