Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday watched from his camp office the progress of work on Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla Barrages, pump houses and others taken up as part of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.

This inspection process was enabled through a live video streaming with the help of cameras set up at the work sites.

Along with Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao, Water Resources Development Corporation Chairman V. Prakash, Mission Bhageeratha Vice Chairman V. Prashanth Reddy, Special Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi, Advisor on Lift Irrigation Schemes K. Penta Reddy, Engineer-in-Chief C. Muralidhar and several other officials and irrigation engineers the CM watched the live visuals on a large screen set up in Pragathi Bhavan.

Installation of video cameras at key work sites of the Kaleshwaram project was completed earlier this month and test-video streaming was done on May 10. The facility of watching the ongoing work live has also been arranged at the Irrigation Minister’s chambers in the Secretariat in addition to the Chief Minister’s camp office. The Chief Minister and others watched the ongoing work on the Godavari river bed, work on the barrages taken up from the two banks of the river, intake wells and pump houses. He expressed satisfaction over the pace of work on various components of the project including the 81-km tunnel between Yellapally Barrage and Mallannasagar balancing reservoir.

Officials explained to the Chief Minister that the work on the tunnel, one of the key components of the project, was completed up to a length of 78.55 km and the lining work was also in progress simultaneously. The tunnel, claimed to be the longest in Asia, is being excavated with 33 feet diameter. He told the officials to push other project work with the same spirit so that water could be given to farmers as early as possible.
