Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao has been formally invited by Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari and Tourism and Culture Minister Chandulal to the Medaram Sammakka-Sarakka festival. Temple Trust chairman Lingaiah, chief priest Jaggarao and other priests also accompanied the Ministers to Pragati Bhavan here on Wednesday. The trust members also met the Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and invited him to visit Medaram.
Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao released the Poster of Medaram festival and CD and directed the Ministers to supervise the arrangements personally in view of large number of devotees expected for the festival and ensure no inconvenience for them.
Mr.Srihari apprised the Chief Minister of the arrangements made for the festival. He later said that the Chief Minister sanctioned ₹ 80 crore for the festival and the funds were utilised to provide amenities for the pilgrims. In the year 2016 too, the Chief Minister sanctioned ₹140 crore. This time permanent works were taken up. The three main roads from Bhupalapalli, Pasra and Tadwai to Medaram were extended into double roads. Toilets and changing rooms were constructed and a new Haritha hotel was also constructed. A museum depicting the tribal culture and Sammakka-Sarakka festival was set up, he said.
