The Civil Services (Main) examination concluded on Saturday, with many aspira-nts claiming a mixed experience in terms of quality of the questions. Though they had to deal with many an indirect question, the pattern remained similar.
About 1,200 aspirants from the city – the highest-ever – appeared for the Main examination, which is being conducted in the new pattern for the second time. There were minor differences in the number of questions in a few papers. Moving away from the traditional pattern of one topic in the General Essay, aspirants had to write two essays.
Those appearing for the second or third time could manage easily, while first-timers felt the paper threw up surprises.
“I would expect the minimum qualifying mark to be 600 out of 1,750,” said Gopala Krishna, director of a prominent coaching institute in the city.
