City sizzles at 43 degrees

After a brief lull, maximum temperatures inched to heat-wave levels across the State on Friday.

Hyderabad recorded 43 degree Celsius, the second time in April when the number was breached. Heat wave conditions prevailed in Nizamabad, Nalgonda, Bhadrachalam and Khammam. Nalgonda recorded the highest maximum of 45 degree Celsius in the state. The IMD has issued heat wave warning for next 24 hours. The official death toll attributed to heat wave has gone up. Officials of the State’s disaster management response wing informed that the number stood at 45, up from 19, with 36 deaths in Mahbubnagar alone. Eight deaths have so far been attributed to heat in Adilabad and one in Ranga Reddy. Having touched 43 degree Celsius, this is the second time maximum temperature in Hyderabad exceeded the decade’s highest figure.
