Mr. Rogers said technology had also brought about opportunity. Often, students who consulted him faced the dilemma of what to choose or which path to take, Mr. Rogers said.
Padma Shri recipient and classical dancer Ananda Shankar Jayant, who was also a panellist, said that though the social media also played a role in the lives of children today, it could not be an enabler beyond a point. “Technology is important when it comes to documentation. It works fantastic for someone like me, but for teaching children, after a certain point it won’t work. How can you keep a child engaged with technology alone?” she questioned.
Dr. Jayant added that though the government encouraged children to take up sports by offering quota, arts was yet to be encouraged.
