Centre asked to inform court on KG gas allocation

March 31, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - Hyderabad:

A Division Bench of Hyderabad High court comprising Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice A. Ramalingeswara Rao on Monday wanted the Central government to inform the court regarding the alleged decision taken for allocation of gas from KG basin for being used in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

The Bench was dealing with a case filed by P. Srikanth Reddy, president of Janapalana Party, who sought investigation into the allocation of a block to Reliance in 2000.

He complained that because of this unilateral allocation, the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are losing their legitimate share in the gas extracted from KG basin. The petitioner told the court that the press reports indicated that the Centre had decided to allocate gas on preferential basis to both the States.

The Bench granted 10 days time to Assistant Solicitor General to report back to the court.
