The Cyberabad police have registered a case against MIM MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri for allegedly making offensive remarks about Mahatma Gandhi’s statue inside the State Assembly.

Following directions from a local court, the L.B. Nagar police booked a case against Quadri, who represents Charminar Assembly constituency, under relevant Sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC). The directions were issued while responding to a petition filed by a practicing advocate in the Ranga Reddy court.

The petitioner alleged that the MLA, while addressing a meeting at Jagityal town in Karimanagar district in January this year, had found fault with the installation of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue on the premises of the State Assembly stating that the building was constructed by the Nizam government.
