The Addagutta main road came to standstill for few hours on Sunday evening! The roofs of buildings and shops along the main stretch were packed to the rafters. The streets were brimming with enthusiasts waving the ubiquitous party flags.
Tumultuous welcomeTo a raucous welcome, YSRC president, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, entered the stretch on top of a vehicle sporting his trademark fold of hands (‘Namaste’) and greeting the women, men and children who were standing along the street.
“I may become a Chief Minister of another State, but I can’t forget the people of Telangana who have kept my father and me in their hearts. The State might be divided into two but as Telugu people, we continue to remain one. After elections, my sister Sharmila will continue Odapru Yatra in Telangana. Please bless our party and our candidates. I promise that we will continue to work for you like my father did,” he announced.
In his fifteen minutes speech delivered in the middle of Addagutta cross roads, time and again, Mr. Jagan recalled the legacy of late Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
All along his speech, he sought to remind the public that Adam Vijay Kumar, the party’s MLA candidate from Secunderabad, was a local.
“Since 1950, not a single party dared to give a ticket to a local person from Secunderabad. We are the first party to give a ticket to a person who is a Secunderabad resident,” he said.
“Recall YSR’s legacy”On several occasions, Mr. Jagan called upon the Addagutta residents to bless Adam Vijay Kumar and Secunderabad Lok Sabha candidate Saajid Ali.
“I request you to recall the rich legacy of YSR and his welfare measures,” he said.
