Concern over the exorbitant fee being collected by private school managements took centre stage at the Zilla Parishad general body meeting here on Wednesday with chairman D. Raju demanding control on it. The members said the school managements were fleecing parents.

Agreeing with the members, District Educational Officer N. Rajesh said his office was not competent to control or decide the fee structure of private schools. However, he would issue instructions to display fee particulars on notice boards and suggest to school education committees to supervise fee structure in their particular area, he said.

Expressing ire over the delay in completion of Mission Bhagiratha works, MLC V.G. Goud sought to know when bulk water would be given for supply to overhead tanks. He said the date of completion was being frequently deferred, leaving people confused.

Congress floor leader V. Srinivas Goud said the smoothly functioning of Yencha water scheme on river Godavari was neglected in the name of the Mission Bhagiratha resulting in drinking water crisis in several villages. Joint Collector A. Ravinder Reddy said there was 10,500 acres of forest land and once the Government issues orders and guidelines, the pattadars would get cheques under Rythu Bandhu scheme. Jukkal MLA Hanmanth Shinde, ZP vice-chairperson G. Sumana Reddy and Kamareddy Joint Collector S. Sathaiah took part in the meeting.
