A shooting sequence in a television serial took a bizarre turn after an actor allegedly lost control of a car and ran over a five-year-old boy, killing him on the spot, and injured another girl, at Ashoknagar in Chandanagar here on Friday.
Aparna, a.k.a. Archana, was supposed to drive up to the park, get out of the car and walk into the garden. She apparently lost control of the vehicle and, instead of stopping, drove on ahead. “She [might] have stepped on the accelerator instead of applying [the] brakes, and the car raced ahead,” Madhapur ACP K. Goverdhan Reddy said.
The boy, E. Satvik Reddy, an LKG student, and a girl from the colony, Sathvika (9), were sitting on the steps by the pavement near the garden’s entry point. The runaway car climbed on to the pavement, crushing Satvik Reddy against the concrete steps. The girl suffered a fracture on her leg. Satvik’s father, Srinivas Reddy, is a security guard. The children were unaware of the shooting of the serial and had been playing in the garden.
Police said Aparna did not have a driving licence and the crew had no permission for the shooting. Cases were booked against the actor, Indrani serial director Sharat, producer Vinod, manager Venkateswara Rao under Sections 304A (causing death by negligence) and 337 (causing hurt) of the IPC. Aparna and Rao have been arrested.

Really sad. But an example for future shootings.
It's really sad to read this story. How come the director decided to
allow an actor to drive the car when she has no licence ? Hope the
victims will be given compensation and the director and actor put
behind bars without bending to any political pressure. They should feel
ashamed with this incident - taking a life because of their negligence!
The actor and the crew should get the maximum punishment possible under law.
However since our country is a "banana republic run by mango people", these people will get away scotfree.
Wow !!! As if creating third rate serials is not enough. These 'drama' people now want to stir action in 'reality'... well carry on, carry on what can we say ... just pay some heed to the safety of others.
Condolences to the family for this unfortunate loss of their son; best wishes for the speedy recovery of the sister who lost her brother. And best wishes to the departed for his journey away from this absurd material-world.
Manoj.
Where are we living. A multiple package of violations in one single incident. But this
is what happens every day in independent india, and unless it leads to such a
disaster we do not pay attention to it. It seems British rule really did not help us to
learn what is civilization. Poor kid.
