BJP flays Asad’s remarks against Vajpayee, Advani

May 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come down heavily against Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who is also the president of MIM, for his “irresponsible utterances” against former Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee and former Deputy PM L.K. Advani against conferring Bhara Ratna and Padma Vibhushan, respectively, on them. The party demanded that the Parliament membership of Mr. Owaisi be annulled for his uncharitable remarks as they amounted to violation of the Constitution since he questioned the act of conferring the titles (awards) by the highest constitutional authority of the nation – the President. The party also petitioned the President against him by sending a letter with a request to advise the Speaker to annul his membership.
