BCs call for ‘Chalo Assembly’ on March 24

March 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Telugu Desam MLA from L.B. Nagar constituency, R. Krishnaiah, has said it was time for the Backward Classes to get together and step up their fight against the TRS government for neglecting BCs and breaking most pre-poll promises.

At a press conference here on Sunday, he said they had waited to see if they got better allocation for BC welfare at least in this budget. However, when they found the actual allocation was progressively on the decline, year-after-year, they had resolved to bring pressure on the government to fulfil the demands of a section of society that actually comprised 52 per cent of the population.

“We have called for ‘Chalo Assembly’ on March 24 and we expect at least one member from each BC household across the 10 districts of the new State to participate. Among the demands are Rs. 20,000 crore to be allotted for BC welfare. The allocation in the 2015 budget was a mere 1.88 per cent of the total budget. It was three per cent in 2013 and came down to two per cent in the vote-on-account budget of 2014,” he explained. This was nothing but an orchestrated plan of the TRS government to neglect the BCs.
