August 02, 2013 12:03 am | Updated November 16, 2021 10:19 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

A couple approached the Nampally police on Thursday complaining of negligence at the Niloufer Hospital, resulting in the death of their three-day-old male baby.

The parents of the boy — Bhikshapati, who works as a private employee and Mangamma — hail from Kandukur village in Ranga Reddy district. The baby was referred to Niloufer Hospital by the doctors at Government Modern Maternity Hospital at Petlaburj after he developed health complications soon after his birth on Monday, the police said. However, on Wednesday the boy died at the hospital.

While the hospital authorities maintained that it was a natural death, the parents alleged that the child got electrocuted in the incubator at the hospital. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and shifted the body to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary where an autopsy was performed. The police are investigating.
