Members of an attention diversion gang struck again, the second one in a span of 24 hours. This time an accountant was robbed of Rs. 7.4 lakh at Ameerpet on Wednesday afternoon.

The victim, Satyaram, an accounts officer with E Savi Technologies Private Limited, withdrew the money from a HDFC bank branch at Ameerpet minutes before the incident.

Satyaram was about to leave on his motorcycle when the miscreants, apparently monitoring his movements, pointed to Rs. 10 currency notes lying on the ground and asked if it belonged to him. “Satyaram got down to collect the currency notes when the miscreants took away the cash bag kept on the fuel tank,” S.R. Nagar Inspector G.V. Ramana Goud said.

Ironically, the bank staff handed over a leaflet to Satyaram just before he was leaving with the cash warning about ‘Attention Diversion Gangs’, the official pointed out.

“People should take necessary precautions while carrying cash and costly belongings. They should ensure that the property is not vulnerable to theft,” Mr. Goud suggests.
