Shiv Kumar Reddy, arrested for robbing a woman techie inside a bank ATM at gunpoint in S.R. Nagar, was not all alone in executing the sensational offence.

After finding that Reddy, who used to work as a painter and mason, carried out the robbery with the help of a friend, the city police launched a hunt to nab the latter. A special team is on the lookout for Reddy’s accomplice, who is believed to have helped him plan and execute the ATM robbery.

“The accused initially didn’t spill beans about involvement of others in the robbery, but eventually revealed that he secured the firearm through a friend,” West Zone police officials told The Hindu .

With the help of his friend, Reddy purchased the pistol from a person in Maharashtra.

He secured some rounds and even test-fired the weapon.

Though a country-made one, the pistol was akin to company-made. The video footage obtained from inside the ATM centre showed Reddy corking the weapon.

“Unless he used the firearm earlier, it wouldn’t have been difficult for him to casually fire in the ATM though only threatening the woman was his goal,” the police said.

The video footages from the ATM centre and those from other cameras on the roads were the prime leads for the police in the case.
