Majlis president Asaduddin Owaisi took strong exception to the way some sections of media was reporting the Dilsukhnagar bomb blast case in the city. If their ‘irresponsible behaviour’ continued, he would be constrained to file criminal cases against such media houses, he warned.
Addressing party workers at the 55th foundation day of Majlis here on Saturday, the Majlis leader wondered how could the media set agenda for the investigative agencies. Within hours of the bomb blast, the media went to town naming the terrorists behind the attack and also flashed their pictures. If they had so much prior information why didn’t they reveal it before the blast. “The tragedy could have been averted and precious lives saved,” he said.
He regretted that the some media houses were trying to drive a wedge between the Hindus and Muslims rather than playing a constructive role. In an oblique reference to some Urdu newspapers, he asked them not to hide behind the pen, but fight with the Majlis in a democratic manner.
He expressed concern at the way the investigation was continuing in a single track direction. He deplored attempts to link the bomb blast to the speeches by Majlis leaders. The leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, wondered could the blast be the result of Owaisi brothers speeches. “I can also say it could be due to the Hindu terror remark made by the Home Minister. But I wouldn’t say that,” the Majlis leader said and reminded that Muslims had also lost lives and got injured.
He urged political parties not to play politics with the Dilsukhnagar tragedy. Those who carried out the blast were not humans but worse than beasts. “They wanted to kill Indians not Hindus and Muslims. Please don’t give colour to the tragedy”, Mr. Owaisi urged.
It was unfortunate, he said, that the boys who were given a clean chit in the Mecca Masjid blast case were being picked up by police again. “What is the message the government wants to give”, Mr. Owaisi asked and demanded a professional and unbiased probe into the Dilsukhnagar case.
