Army blocks Secunderabad Cantonment Board roads

February 26, 2014 12:41 pm | Updated May 23, 2016 06:58 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) meeting turned out to be a stormy affair, as expected, over the army authorities’ refusal to allow traffic on select roads, from 10 p.m. to 7.30 a.m., starting on Tuesday night.

The Board's civilian member J. Pratap, also a former vice-president, and fellow member Venkat Rao arrived at the meeting sporting black badges and later walked out in protest against the army blockade of roads leading to the suburbs.

Cantonment MLA Shankar Rao, participating in the meeting as an ex-officio member, demanded that the army authorities maintain the status quo till alternate roads are developed.
