ANR National Award for Rajamouli

Acclaimed director S.S. Rajamouli has been selected for the Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) National Award-2017, instituted by the Akkineni International Foundation.

It will be given away in the presence of Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at Shilpa Kala Vedika on September 17, said actor Nagarjuna, in the presence of his wife and actor Amala Akkineni and Rajya Sabha member T. Subbarami Reddy, here on Friday.

Students passing out of the Annapurna International School of Film & Media would also get their degrees on the day of the award function.

Mr. Nagarjuna said Mr. Rajamouli had, with his path-breaking films Bahubali - The Beginning and Bahubali - The Conclusion , made the Telugu film industry proud across the world.

Earlier recipients

Earlier, the recipients of the prestigious ANR National Award include Dev Anand, Shabana Azmi, Anjali Devi, Vyjayantimala Bali, Lata Mangeshkar, K. Balachander, Hemamalini, Shyam Benegal and Amitabh Bachchan.
