Another Inter student commits suicide

First-year student was reportedly depressed over ‘poor performance’

A day after Intermediate examination results were announced, another Inter first-year student ended her life on Saturday by hanging herself at her residence in Keesara here.

According to police, S. Likitha Sri (16) was pursuing Intermediate from Sri Chaitanya Junior college in ECIL. She was reportedly depressed over scoring poor marks in the examination. Based on the complaint lodged by her father Suresh Yadav, police said that she failed in Mathematics - I. The girl committed suicide when she was alone in the house. Her parents returned home at around 4 p.m. to discover the body.A case was registered and a probe has been initiated.

On Friday, four intermediates had committed suicide for similar reasons.

Trafficked Uzbekistan woman kills self

An Uzbekistan national, who was sent to a private rescue home at Amangal in Ranga Reddy district, after she was rescued from a sex trafficking trade November last, committed suicide by hanging herself on Friday evening.

N. Venkateshwarlu, circle inspector, Amangal said she was identified as Varfolomeyev Zulfiya (26). The incident took place around 5.30 p.m. at Prajwala Rescue Home. Police did not recover a suicide note and are yet to ascertain the reason behind the death. She came to Delhi a year ago on a six-month tourist visa.

During her stay, she came in contact with human traffickers at Delhi, Goa, Bangalore and Hyderabad. She and was involved in sex trade, police said. The Amangal Police said they were trying to contact her friends and relatives in Delhi.

The body was shifted to Kalwakurthy government hospital for preservation.

Zulfiya was rescued in November 2017 when Rachakonda Special Operations Team of Malikajgiri Zone busted an inter-State online sex trafficking racket and nabbed three traffickers.
