Another fire at Nacahram

May 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 01:18 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

A portion of a research and development facility was gutted when a major fire broke out on Sunday evening at Nacharam. This was the second such incident in the area since in the last few weeks.

Short-circuit

Firefighters were engaged for more than an hour and half dousing the flames, which were reportedly the result of a short-circuit in the premises.

“We got a call at about 5.40 p.m., after which three fire tenders were rushed from the Malkajgiri, Moula Ali and Cherlapally stations. The flames were put out by 7 p.m., as our men were fighting the dense fumes which were billowing,” said Papaiah Varla, Regional Fire Officer (RFO).

The incident took place at the Railmt facility near the Nacharam junction, in the industrial area, he added.

The RFO also said that only a part of the building was gutted, as firefighters managed to restrict the flames only to the room where it started from.
