The Alliance for Social Justice (ASJ) consisting of Students Federation of India (SFI), Ambedkar Students’ Association (ASA), Dalit Students’ Union (DSU), and few other like-minded groups that were in the forefront protesting the right-wing groups on the Hyderabad Central University (HCU) campus swept the students union elections winning all the positions.
These groups were also in support of research scholar Rohith Vemula, who committed suicide on the campus last year. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP)-OBC Front contested for all postions, while National Students Union of India (NSUI) contested only for the President post.
The President's post was won by Sreerag P. of ASJ securing 1,509 votes against K Palsaniya of ABVP-OBCF who secured 1,349 votes.
The General Secretary post was won by Arif Ahammed of ASJ securing 1,982 votes against Kiran Kumar K. of ABVP-OBCF who secured 1,573 votes. Similarly, Muhammed Ashique N.P of ASJ was declared winner as the Joint Secretary. He secured 1,872 votes against Maloth Pooja Rani of ABVP-OBCF who secured 1,591 votes.
Cultural Secretary post was won by Gundeti Abhishek of ASJ securing 1,792 votes against Aarti N Nagpal of ABVP-OBCF who secured 1,707 votes. The Sports Secretary was won by Lolam Sravan Kumar of ASJ who secured 1,917 votes as against 1,511 votes polled by Rupesh Ranjan of ABVP-OBCF.
GS-Cash (Integrated) has been won by Tinanjali Dam of ASJ securing 419 votes against P. Navya of ABVP-OBCF who secured 271 votes. GS-Cash (PG) was won by Charu Nivedha R of ASJ securing 879 votes against Neha Rani Patel who secured 837 votes. A. Manjula of ASJ was unanimously elected as GS-Cash (Research).
However, the Vice President results were withheld for technical reasons and will be announced later. For the VP post Lunavath Naresho f ASJ has secured 1,885 votes against Apoorv Jain of ABVP-OBCF who secured 1,624 votes.
